6 Month Portraits

Six months old already! Where has the time gone? We can't believe how much our little baby has grown. He's 26 1/2 inches long now and weight 16lbs.10oz. He's no longer a tiny little infant, he's our little boy now. The past month has been full of big changes! He sits up and plays by himself for almost an hour at a time - his favorite toy is still his castle shape sorter. He rolls all over the place now but his favorite activity is still his Johnny Jump Up. He's eating 3 "real" meals a day now. Oatmeal and peas are the favorites so far. He has the most adorable laugh - he thinks his Daddy is the funniest person in the world!

Busy as a Bee in April

Late in April we took a day trip to Douthat State Park where Grayson's Nana and Unce Russell met us. Steve went mountain biking while the rest of us went on a short hike. Nana and Grayson took a break after climbing up the dam - Nana also gave Grayson a taste of her Sprite!
Back at Nana's house, Grayson got a bath in his Mommy's old "bath tub."
Then the next weekend he went to meet his buddy Lincoln who is already 6 weeks old!
Grayson was hoping Lincoln would be ready to play... But he had other ideas...

April Showers

April hasn't been the best of months. Spring seems to be taking it's time getting here. Grayson is fighting a recurrent ear infection that has proven resistant to 4 antibiotics. And then there was the tragedy at Viginia Tech.
Grayson picked a good day to be sick on April 16th. Kelly wasn't at work when the massacre happened in the building next to her office. Blacksburg will never be exactly the same, nor will the walk into work each day, but as Nikki Giovanni so eloquently wrote:

We are Virginia Tech.
We are sad today, and we will be sad for quite a while. We are not moving on, we are embracing our mourning.
We are Virginia Tech.
We are strong enough to stand tall tearlessly, we are brave enough to bend to cry, and we are sad enough to know that we must laugh again.
We are Virginia Tech.
We do not understand this tragedy. We know we did nothing to deserve it, but neither does a child in Africa dying of AIDS, neither do the invisible children walking the night away to avoid being captured by the rogue army, neither does the baby elephant watching his community being devastated for ivory, neither does the Mexican child looking for fresh water, neither does the Appalachian infant killed in the middle of the night in his crib in the home his father built with his own hands being run over by a boulder because the land was destabilized. No one deserves a tragedy.
We are Virginia Tech.
The Hokie Nation embraces our own and reaches out with open heart and hands to those who offer their hearts and minds. We are strong, and brave, and innocent, and unafraid. We are better than we think and not quite what we want to be. We are alive to the imaginations and the possibilities. We will continue to invent the future through our blood and tears and through all our sadness.
We are the Hokies.
We will prevail.
We will prevail.
We will prevail.
We are Virginia Tech.

Fortunately, we have the little guy to keep us busy and to keep us laughing! Despite hourly wakings at night due to the earache, he's been awfully fun in April!

Who would have thought he would have needed a stocking cap in April?

Kelly's friend Kim MacInnis sent her home with balloons for Grayson one day...tying them to his feet provided for lots of entertainment!
Grammy came to help out!
He's been practicing his "cobra."
And today finally brought weather nice enough for a stroll! Believe it or not, he loves his sunglasses. The sun has always bothered him and now we have the perfect solution!

Easter in Williamsburg

We spent Grayson's first Easter in Williamsburg with his Nana, Aunt Kim, Uncle Chris, and cousins Cameron and Peyton.

Grayson enjoyed his first Easter basket.
And he liked playing with Cameron and Peyton.
This was our Easter fairy - who likes Starbucks.
