Sullivan's Island

I have the good fortune of having a cousin (and best friend of 20 years) who has a house on Sullivan's Island outside Charleston, SC. It has been years since Dana and I had a chance to spend any great length of time together. When I asked her a few months ago if she was going to be in town when my girlfriends from college and I planned to visit Charleston she invited the whole clan to stay at her place. Very, very generous. Not only did I get to spend the week with my girlfriends from college (a yearly tradition), but I also got to spend time with Dana - something long overdue and something I hope will happen more regularly. The entire vacation reminded me how fortunate I am to have the women I do in my life.

Emily and Cathy - every year at least one of us has been pregnant. This year there were two...which makes it nice for built in designated drivers. We're not sure what we're going to do when everyone in the group is done having kids!

The W&M five. Clare, Cathy, Kelly, Kim, and Emily. It's not uncommon now when we're out together for people to assume we're having a "sisters" vacation. We basically all have the same skin tone, build, and hair color....funny how things work out that way.

Oddly enough, Cathy was the only one who allowed a picture in a bathing suit - and she's 7 months pregnant!!! And looking amazing, if I may say! She's our proof that we did actually spend some time on the beach. We did the city and the beach each day. Dana has a golf cart that she drives around the island and to the beach - how cool is that?

And I actually did get one picture of Dana and me on the beach together. But we were both in bathing suits. So those of you who know Dana don't have to ask why I would refrain from posting that one!
