Myrtle Beach Trip 2009

Steve opted out, but the boys and I decided to venture to Myrtle Beach with my Mom and sister's family for a little getaway last week. The boys did amazingly well on the drive - really more than you could ask from a 1 and 2 year old. The resort was less than remarkable, but we did enjoy the time away. I'll have to say, though, that manhandling 2 toddlers at the beach is much less relaxing than working in my office so I was fairly happy to return to my vacation from vacation. While at the beach we attempted dinner out with the family twice (total bust each time), visited the Aquarium (Grayson loved it!), and waited in an hour long line for Build-A-Bear (boys only semi-amused). Other than those outings, we pretty much spent morning on the beach and at the pool at the resort which included multiple baby pools with features and a lazy river (which Grayson managed to fall in once).

The last night we were there we enjoyed a rainstorm followed by a beautiful sky including a rainbow. I'm sure my sister got better pics than me which I might be able to post later, but here are mine for now. Luke enjoyed the water - clothed or not.
Grayson enjoyed the water as long as it wasn't moving. He loved the puddles left behind by the tide. He spent most of his time jumping in and seeing how wet he could get.
And his heavy shorts finally gave up the fight...

All of the kids...

Mom with all the grandkids - note the rainbow in the back!

At the Aquarium, Grayson found a "grey friend" who kept coming back to the window when he was there. Really, I think this fish would have stayed there as long as Grayson would have.

Luke's favorite were the jellyfish.

Both boys captivated by all the colors and fish.

Grayson doesn't care for sand. Each time his hands would get "dirty" he would want to go back up to the outdoor showers at the resort to wash them off. He woudln't go near enough to the ocean to rinse them there.

So we finally figured out we could fill a bucket with water from the ocean and he would rinse his hands there.Luke, on the other hand, loved making a mess in the sand and water!

Luke enjoyed the little waves as long as I was there with him.

Or his Nana.

Grayson enjoyed digging and watching the waves from a distance.
