Bye, bye Nuks!

Grayson didn't use a Nuk until he was 8 months old. And he's really never used them much during the day. But at night - wow! He has an army of Nuks. He MUST have one in his mouth and one in each hand, but also like to have a stash under the covers. I think I counted 7 at last count. We had been telling Grayson that babies need Nuks more than big boys and when he turned 3 he needed to mail them to a baby. So yesterday we packed up the Nuks, he gave each one a kiss, and then decorated the box we put them in. We walked to the mail box and he shoved that box in there and said, "Bye, Bye Nuks." I, of course, retrieved the box when he was napping and have it hidden in the house - just in case. But last night actually went fairly well. He asked for them about halfway through "A Cat in the Hat" but we continued with the story and the bedtime routine and he seemed OK. He was overtired from the day, but all in all, it went pretty well. He asked for Lambo - whom we left at my friend's house this weekend, but I told him Lambo was on the way to him through the mail. He said "maybe the mailman will bring my Nuks back, too." I told him he wouldn't, that Lily had those now, and he seemed OK with that answer. He did sleep through the night (pretty much - if you consider until 5:30 sleeping through the night) and we gave him high 5's this morning for making it through the night without Nuks. I can only hope this continues and that Nuks will be completely out of mind a week from now!
