Christmas Eve ended with an ice storm, so Rich and Jolene spend the night at our place fearing they wouldn't be able to make it down the hill the next morning. Christmas morning was quite a treat - Grayson slept until almost 7:00 and Luke still wasn't even awake at 8:00. A rare treat, indeed. Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. I think he must have really appreciated the red wine we left. I mean, how much milk can one jolly old soul on a cold winter's night enjoy?
We enjoyed opening presents and looking through stockings once everyone was awake. We had our traditional breakfast casserole for breakfast and this year I added Monkey Bread, but doubt that will be on the menu regularly. I was hoping it would turn out something like Mom's cinnamon rolls, but it wasn't nearly as good. I guess at some point I just have to learn to bake "real" bread. Mom had spend Christmas Eve at Kim's this year and woke up with her kids, but drove to my house and arrived for Christmas evening and was able to stay for a quite a while. The kids loved having their Nana and Steve and I certainly appreciated the company and extra help!

After a long day of opening presented, we sang Happy Birthday to Jesus and let Grayson blow out the candles since, "Jesus is big now." Of course, neither of my boys wanted to eat cake, so we actually lit the darn thing again the next day when Kim's kids were here and had some cake then.
