We're fortunate to have friends (Joe and Angela) who have a house at Snowshoe. We've certainly come a long way from our days of piling in Tim Ed's cargo camper in the Silver Creek parking lot. Those were fun days, but with the addition of four little ones, the house has been a Godsend. Two weekends ago Joe hosted a man's weekend so it was only fair that Angela follow with a girls' retreat! I picked up a friend of Angela's in Roanoke for company on the ride. As expected, a friend of a friend proved a wonderful match and I'm fortunate to now call Karen a friend of my own! Eileen and Angela had gone up a day earlier and were already waiting for Karen and myself when we arrived on Friday. Within minutes of arriving we found ourselves in the outdoor hot tub with wine glasses in hand. Nothing beats sitting amidst trees covered in fresh snow while immersed in 100 degree water with a nice glass of red wine! (Except for maybe the fact that we actually got to sleep in the next day until 7:30!) The next two days brought amazing conditions for snowboarding. Thirty degree temps with no wind. As a fair weather boarded who doesn't like to be cold, I couldn't ask for more perfect weather.
Self-portraits on the lift!
Enjoying a nice meal out at Elk River Touring Company. Small world - we ran into another friend from Fayetteville who was stopping by the bar to grab a glass of wine before heading home so our party of four turned into a party of five for the night!
