Last Friday we took advantage of Santa's visit to the Lyric Theater in Blacksburg. Hey - it was free and you could take your own camera which is more than I can say for the mall Santa. Call me cheap, but I couldn't see paying $25 for a 5x7 when I knew my boys weren't going to sit on the big guy's lap anyway. I was right. Neither Grayson not Luke could be convinced to sit on Santa's lap, but Grayson did gladly perch beside him and shared very clearly his request for Christmas.
This year Grayson wants the "Fast Lane Remote Control Mega Crane." Thank you, Toys R Us "Big Book" for the idea. He's pretty fixated on this four foot tall crane, but occasionally we hear something about another train or a "big box of green shirts." He's a pretty reasonable kid. I think Santa might be able to make Grayson a happy boy come Christmas morning.
Luke, on the other hand, is harder to please. My little man of few words has made three Christmas requests. Here are Luke's:
1) Nuks. Now keep in mind that we have recently taken away his Nuks except for at night. So what does Luke do when he sees the Santa come around the corner in the Macy's Christmas Parade on TV? He sits bolt upright and whispers to Santa, "Bring me Nuks, please." Really, Luke? Can you make me feel any worse?
2) Yes. Because next when I ask him after dinner one night what he wants for Christmas he responds with, "Mommy." When I tell him that of course I'll be here for Christmas he says, "All day, Mommy." Rip my heart out, little one. Can you make a working Mommy feel worse?
3) Yes. Only if your only other Christmas wish is not possible. So at the Lyric, what does Luke ask for? "May May." Here's the problem...."May May" is actually Megan - his little girlfriend at school. Apparently he wants his girlfriend delivered with a bow for Christmas. For some reason I'm thinking Megan's parents might have a problem with that one.
Despite practically begging Luke to pick something out of the Toys R Us catalog, he has yet to request a toy. Hope Santa can get creative before December 24th!
