Much to my dismay, Luke informed me that he was ready for a big boy bed. He is almost three so I guess I should be grateful he stayed in the crib happily as long as he did. It's never easy to find time to do things like switch out a crib so as luck would have it, the day we found time was Mother's Day. So on my third Mother's Day with Luke we tore down the crib that had been part of our family for the past 5 years and moved in the toddler bed. It was a little bittersweet. Part of me was happy that Luke seemed to anxious to move to the next phase. But the other part was awfully sad as I remembered the joy of picking out all of the new baby things five years ago. I remember the moment I found that particular crib and changing table in the store. And now, five years later, it's done. Now I guess I need to get excited about picking out bunk beds or Lightning McQueen bedding or whatever it is that the boys decide they want next!
