Luke turns THREE!

Wow! I can hardly believe Luke is three. He has been such an easy child that it seems like just yesterday I was bringing him home from the hospital. (Steve likes to suggest that we brought him home from the hospital without a name because it took us so long to decide on one. But this is simply not so. It did take a few hours to decide between Noah, Holden, and Luke. Three years later I am confident we settled on the right name.) At his three year checkup he weighed 34 pounds and was 39 inches tall which apparently places him in the 75th percentile for weight and 85th percentile for height. He will be a big boy. Luke continues to be a sweet child. He is thoughtful in every sense of the word. He is caring and deliberate. He loves Mickey Mouse, his Nuk (still), his stuffed blue elephant named Elle, dolphins, and the color purple. He loves his family. Storytime before bed is a favorite time of day for Luke. He is a water boy which becomes more and more evident everytime we go to the pool or lake. He has an impressive vocabulary even if there are a few letters that he can't pronounce. He has pancakes and sausage every morning for breakfast and other than that his favorites are processed meat and fruit. We had a breakthrough when he finally decided he would eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. And last night he did eat an ear of corn which may be the first vegetable that he has ingested. He continues to be a decent sleeper rarely waking up at night but still bright eyed and bushy tailed at 5:45 every morning. Some would say this was terrible, but after Grayson the fact that Luke actually sleeps through the night makes up for his early rising. Luke loves to build with his Magnatiles and has impressed us with his creative play. Most recently he learned how to ride a bike without training wheels - exactly one week after he turned three. Both boys seem to be blessed with an extraordinary sense of balance for their ages. Overall Luke is a joy. And next week my baby boy graduates from the "Blue Room (aka baby room)" at his school to the "Orange Room." I'm sure the move will be harder on me than on Luke.

We had a small little get together at our house for Luke. He wanted a "Purple Party" so everyone wore purple to celebrate his day.

His buddy Reid from school was able to join us even though Reid's family welcomed a new baby brother the day before!

Luke was a happy boy on his big day!

Grayson was happy because his cousin Peyton was at his house.

Lots of purple!

Luke with his purple cake.
That was a stubborn candle!
But finally Luke got his wish with a little help from his Daddy!
